Anthony Peter Kelly, September 18, 1937 – November 12, 2024, Seaford, New York (most recently Walnut Creek, California). Formerly of Fatima Ave, Sligo, Ireland. Anthony "Tony" Peter Kelly, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 12, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Ettie (née Gillen) and a loving father to Jo Anne Kelly Richards (Kevin), Jackie Kelly, Tony Kelly (Susan), and Jannine Strumpfler (Scott). His seven grandchildren Connor Richards, Grant Richards, Orla Kelly, Tony (TJ) Kelly, Aidan Kelly, Maeve Kelly, and Keira Strumpfler were a constant source of pride and joy. Tony is predeceased by his parents, Michael and Annie Kelly, and siblings Anna Regan, Myra Kelly, Noel Kelly, and Michael Kelly. He is survived by his brothers, Jack (Geraldine), Colm (Margaret), and Ronnie (Marie) Kelly, and is remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Born and raised in Sligo, Ireland, Tony emigrated to the United States in January 1960, with Ettie joining him shortly after. They settled in New York City before making Long Island their home, where they raised their four children. In the 1970s, the family returned briefly to Ireland, living on Fatima Ave before resettling in Seaford, NY. Tony lived there for nearly 50 years, creating a life filled with cherished routines and family memories. He loved working in his garden, grilling in the driveway, and enjoying quiet moments in his backyard. His gentle nature extended beyond his family, as he rescued countless animals, from baby rabbits to squirrels, and later cared for hummingbirds and chickens in California. Tony was known for his sharp wit, humor, and enduring Irish brogue. He had a lifelong passion for soccer, not only as a player and fan but also as a coach and volunteer, helping to grow the sport in the U.S. He proudly displayed his coaching awards and cherished the relationships he built with former players, who often stopped by to reminisce and express their gratitude. In 2020, Tony and Ettie moved to California to be closer to family during the pandemic. They permanently relocated to Rossmoor, CA, in 2021, finding a welcoming community and new friends at The Waterford. His grandchildren treasured the time spent with him in these last few years, and he leaves a lasting legacy in both the Rossmoor community and with all who knew him.
